The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the LGBTQ Communities at Cal (CAC-LGBTQ) presents the QT Community Town Hall. This event will serve as an opportunity for faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students, and community members to discuss matters pertinent to the Queer/Trans community on campus and beyond. Current CED Undergraduate Majors Only, A team of CED undergraduates (supported by a staff advisor) is collecting this data to create a positive messaging campaign in Spring 2020. All responses are anonymous. We are interested in knowing what current CED undergraduates think about intervening in gender-based harassment. Bystander intervention can be  direct  (example: speaking to the person who is doing the behavior) or  indirect  (examples: redirecting a conversation [intentionally changing the subject or using humor], following up with the person who was targeted, creating a distraction, seeking help from peers or authority figures). Professor Justin Davidson of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese is conducting a linguistic study on acoustic elements of the Spanish spoken by speakers of the Bay Area. If you meet the following criteria, you are eligible to participate in an  hour-long session in Dwinelle Hall that pays $15  (consisting of filling out some forms on your language background, reading some words aloud, and having a conversation in Spanish). The  Power Shift Network   is partnering with the   California Student Sustainability Coalition   for Power Shift West Convergence 2016! Join young climate and social justice leaders from all over the West for a weekend of workshops, trainings, speakers, and movement-building. The theme of the convergence:  “Reclaim Today, Transform Tomorrow.”  We know that the face of climate and environmental activism too often doesn’t represent those who are most impacted by pollution, the impact of climate change, and the fossil fuel industry’s greed. T ellhistory.com   is   currently working on an oral history project about the history of housing and neighborhood change in the Bay Area. Alternative Breaks takes teams of students to various areas throughout the Western United States on 1-2 week service learning trips, exploring the complexities of social issues by allowing students to work, eat, and live with people who are directly impacted by racism, poverty, and other injustices. Students prepare for trips through a 2-unit DECal. Financial aid is available for all trips. Dear Community! The Multicultural Immigrant Student Program (MISP) is looking for new interns for the academic year of 2013-2014! MISP is a program created through collaboration with the Chican@ Latin@ Student Development and the Asian Pacific American Student Development Offices. The interns work on different projects each year to create programming, events, organizations, and more in order to help and empower immigrant and AB 540/undocumented students on campus. Projects vary vastly and we welcome all kinds of work and creativity. Previous projects have included initiating and organizing the AB 540/Undocumented Students Coalition which composes of staff, faculty, and students interested in advancing the status of these students. We will host 28 AmeriCorps Members who work full time to deliver an intensive, after-school literacy program.
