Scholarship Opportunity for Underrepresented Minorities

The Demography department is pleased announce a new scholarship opportunity for student who have a vested interest in pursuing an advance degree in the social and health sciences . Advancing Diversity in Age research (CAL-ADAR) invites applications for a three semester research opportunity for undergraduate students (rising juniors or seniors) in the health and social sciences. CAL-ADAR seeks to prepare talented and motivated underrepresented students from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds, or those with a proven commitment to diversity and to eradicating racial disparities in graduate school and the academy, for graduate study in fields in the health and social sciences. The program provides students with a rigorous research experience under the guidance of a UCB faculty or graduate student mentor, and a minor that will provided them a technical skill to conduct research. Become a Paid Participant in Eye-Related Clinical Research

  The UC Berkeley Clinical Research Center (CRC) is currently looking for people to participate in various eye-related studies. The eligibility criteria and compensation varies per study ($15-25/hour). You will need to have had an eye exam in the last two years to be eligible for the studies. Minorities in Health Conference 4/6 - Information and Invitation

Each year the Black Students in Health Association (BSHA), the Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education (CHE), and the Pilipino Association for Health Careers (PAHC) of UC Berkeley unite forces to host the Minorities in Health (MIH) Conference. The goal of the conference is to educate students on health disparities that affect our communities and find ways to decrease these disparities by encouraging and inspiring both high school and undergraduate students to strive toward higher education and ultimately careers in health. On Saturday April 6, students will have the opportunity to network and interact with a variety of health professionals, medical students and graduate students from schools such as Stanford, UCSF, UC Berkeley and throughout the Bay Area. Students will attend beneficial workshops, participate in public health discussions, and better equip themselves for their journey in these competitive career tracks.
