The  Prizes and Honors  program provides many opportunities for students - undergraduate and graduate - to have their best creative work acknowledged and win a monetary prize.  Please see the flyer below for more details. The Fabilli Hoffer contest is the only contest that is open to  faculty and staff  as well as students.  (The Fabilli-Hoffer topic this year is:  "Confidence without attitude" .   At least $7,000 will be available for the judge(s) to award this year. Per Eric Hoffer: "The sole criteria for the prizes shall be originality of thought and excellence in writing. This fund shall be known as the Lili Fabilli and Eric Hoffer Essay Prize." Hoffer felt very strongly that every idea could be expressed in a few words. For our 2020  Urban Transformation  course, offered by Red Tree Study in partnership with Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) in Medellin, we are delighted to announce that we have a full scholarship, to the value of $2,550 USD, as well as several smaller travel bursaries. This scholarship funds participation in our two-week academic summer course taught by the RIBA-Accredited Architecture School at Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia. Medellin, the birthplace of ‘social urbanism’, was once one of the world’s most dangerous cities, yet is now famous for its pioneering innovative urban projects that have transformed the lives of many of its citizens. It provides a perfect case study for students. The course combines lectures and seminars on campus with site visits and workshops that deliver practical knowledge of the city. SmithGroup Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship Program We have created the  SmithGroup Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Scholarship Program  to support and mentor students from historically underrepresented demographics in architecture, interior design, planning, landscape architecture and engineering.  The program’s mission is to provide these students with the opportunity to attain their professional goals while advancing the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry and improving the built environment. This scholarship includes a one-time award of $6,000 to offset the student's tuition at their current academic institution (5 scholarships are awarded each year). RESOURCES ON CAMPUS The EOP Graduation Gown Lending Project Fall 2019 application is now open! Graduation can be an exciting moment for students, however the cost of purchasing a cap and gown can be a burden that impede students from fully enjoying their academic achievement. GGLP’s mission focuses on alleviating the financial burden graduation expenses have on students. We are excited to continue extending our resources to Master students, as well! Gowns are distributed on a first come, first serve basis so students are encouraged to apply early. In order to qualify, a student must either be: 1) Low-income and/or 2) First Generation and/or 3) Historically Underrepresented , OR a Graduate Student . Two separate applications will be available and will be closing on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:59pm . Unsure of EOP status?
