ARCHmedium competitions aim to be a learning experience to complement their formal education which enables students to enrich their learning experience and gain confidence by becoming acquainted with the modus operandi of this kind of competitions inside the professional architectural world, giving them the opportunity to see their projects published in prestigious international magazines and exhibited at architecture schools from around the world. Entry registration is now open to international undergraduate students and young architects who will be awarded separately from students prizes. More information can be found here

We're excited to offer for the 2nd year, a summer internship credit option for undergrads. The Independent U.S. Summer Internship Credit Option is intended to offer a solution to all enrolled undergraduate students needing to get academic credit for their domestic internships during the summer. This option can appeal to students who have secured a summer internship and: who are undeclared or need to get credit for their internships want to reflect upon their internship experiences in a structured manner through assignments and readings Students who are approved by the Career Center will receive the course control number for the 4-unit online course offered during summer sessions. Looking for a great leadership opportunity? The Peer Mentorship Program pairs current Berkeley students with new incoming students for the Fall 2014 semester. Each peer mentor will be assigned a small group of new students to help adjust to Berkeley. Some activities you can share with your mentees include: -Hosting small socials events -Attending a program already happening on campus -Going out to eat or to have coffee/tea -Any fun activity that brings the group together! Volunteering for WindAid is an opportunity to explore Peru, to enforce the necessity of renewable energy, to learn in depth the design, construction, and installation of a wind turbine, and see its social impact on a community, a school, or a microenterprise. WindAid started up over five years ago with the simple idea to bring energy to a school in the rural mountains of Peru. Since then they have achieved an incredibly diverse set of installations with more than 35 projects bringing electricity to hundreds of Peruvians. They have installed the first wind park in Peru, two mobile turbines – both on an automobile and a ship, and the Guinness World Record breaking Highest Wind Turbine in the World! WindAid has won awards from the BiD Network at The Hague in Holland, and the Ashden Award in London, England. A young web startup ( theArchie.com ) founded by architecture students, and dedicated to the exchange of ideas, collaboration between students, teachers and architects, and looking for apprenticeships and work opportunities for the users of our site. theArchie.com organizes architecture and design contests for students and young professionals, in order to give them the chance of confronting a design project for themselves. It is good for students to apply what they know to a project that is closer to reality, rather than the theoretical approach which is often far removed from it. The competition will be judged by renowned architects, and rewarded with prize-money. Dear University of California Berkeley Students, The Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture in London is offering a 2-week international design workshop for students interested in exploring more effective ways to make thought-provoking changes to our urban environment.
