The Food System Vision Prize , launched by the Rockefeller Foundation and powered by SecondMuse and OpenIDEO , is officially accepting submissions! Now through January 31, we’re looking for Visions that answer the question: How might we envision regenerative and nourishing food futures for 2050? As a Food System Vision Prize participant (a.k.a. Visionary) you will be tasked with developing a concrete and actionable Vision for your chosen place—town, state/province, region, bioregion, watershed, or country—through a systems approach. $2M will be distributed to the Top Visionaries, who will be eligible to receive a prize of $200,000 each.  In early November, we held kickoff webinars for interested university-affiliated participants. The  Prizes and Honors  program provides many opportunities for students - undergraduate and graduate - to have their best creative work acknowledged and win a monetary prize.  Please see the flyer below for more details. The Fabilli Hoffer contest is the only contest that is open to  faculty and staff  as well as students.  (The Fabilli-Hoffer topic this year is:  "Confidence without attitude" .   At least $7,000 will be available for the judge(s) to award this year. Per Eric Hoffer: "The sole criteria for the prizes shall be originality of thought and excellence in writing. This fund shall be known as the Lili Fabilli and Eric Hoffer Essay Prize." Hoffer felt very strongly that every idea could be expressed in a few words. The Prizes Program at UC Berkeley (prizes@berkeley.edu) is an important forum for rewarding creative expression and scholarly achievement by Berkeley's finest students. Winners receive both recognition and a cash prize, which is coordinated with the winner's financial aid package. Prize competitions are open to students of any major. Successful, even prominent, artists and poets in our society found that winning an award at Berkeley was a pivotal experience in their artistic careers. Prizes are administered under the direction of the Academic Senate Committee on Prizes. Copies of the essays and poetry submissions chosen to receive prizes are archived at the Bancroft Library at the end of each year. RESOURCES ON CAMPUS The EOP Graduation Gown Lending Project Fall 2019 application is now open! Graduation can be an exciting moment for students, however the cost of purchasing a cap and gown can be a burden that impede students from fully enjoying their academic achievement. GGLP’s mission focuses on alleviating the financial burden graduation expenses have on students. We are excited to continue extending our resources to Master students, as well! Gowns are distributed on a first come, first serve basis so students are encouraged to apply early. In order to qualify, a student must either be: 1) Low-income and/or 2) First Generation and/or 3) Historically Underrepresented , OR a Graduate Student . Two separate applications will be available and will be closing on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 11:59pm . Unsure of EOP status?
