Science Meets Science - After the Wildfires: Where Should We Live? We will be joined by: Scott Stephens , UC Berkeley Professor in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management Laurie Johnson , Urban Planning Consultant Louise Comfort , Visiting Scholar at the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) In addition, join us the following week for our Policy Roundtable (Wednesday, December 4, 5:30- 7:30 | Tan Hall, Room 775) where you can form teams with expert advisors to write white papers and policy memos regarding this topic. Pizza will be provided!

We have an exciting opportunity for our architecture students by ETH Zurich to develop full-scale housing prototypes that will be built in Cape Town. Dear EOP Students, With ever increasing tuition and a severe lack of affordable housing in the city of Berkeley, we at the Berkeley Student Cooperative (BSC) feel it is our duty to provide affordable housing to students, with specific priority given to low income students. Unfortunately the BSC doesn't have space for all students that need our services, and as a result we have long waitlists to get co-op housing. We are preparing to expand in the coming years. Currently we offer two types of cooperative living: room and board houses and apartments. But we may offer different types of options in the future. Affordable Housing Issues Decal City Planning 98/198: Affordable Housing Issues Wednesdays, 3:30 – 5:00 PM in 106 Wurster Interested in Affordable Housing? Take City Planning 98/198! This course is sponsored by the Cal Habitat for Humanity Chapter, and seeks to educate the campus community about the need for decent and affordable housing. The class features weekly guest speakers from academia, government, and non-profit organizations who will share with students their perspectives on housing.  Topics include housing segregation, gentrification, public policy, community and economic development, homelessness, health and housing, land use and housing planning, green building, the privatization of housing, and more.  In addition, a fieldwork component will give students the opportunity to take action by building Habitat for Humanity homes or volunteering for an affordable housing organization.
