Super Stars Literacy Program - Info and Application

Super Stars Literacy is pleased to announce the opening of the application cycle for our 2013-2014 AmeriCorps program. We will host 28 AmeriCorps Members who work full time to deliver an intensive, after-school literacy program. This program is designed to improve educational achievement for high-need Kindergarten through 2nd graders in Oakland, Hayward, Richmond, and Antioch. Join us for the 2013-2014 school year, running from late August-June 30.

Program Highlights:
Extensive training on teaching skills such as classroom management, lesson planning, and literacy instruction.
Ongoing support and one-on-one instructional coaching.
1 school year of experience teaching a classroom of approximately 20 students for 3 hours a day Monday-Friday.
Retreats, weekly team meetings, service days, and other teambuilding activities.
Help prepare at-risk youth to succeed in school!

Member Benefits:
$17,000 living allowance for the year (approximately $1,545 per month) for 11 months of service.
$5,550 education award for student loans or education expenses, provided at the end of the year.

Loan forbearance.
Child care subsidy.
