Paid opportunity for summer work on city planning research for undergraduates

UC Berkeley undergraduates are invited to apply for the 2018 Student Mentoring & Research Teams (SMART) Program. Two projects are related to city planning!

The application deadline is Thursday, March 1, 2018, 11:59 p.m. (PST).

SMART is a summer program designed to encourage graduate student
professional development and to foster undergraduate research through mentoring. Approximately 24 undergraduate mentees will be selected; each mentee will work with a graduate student research mentor in summer 2018 and receive a $3,500 stipend.

Undergraduates can apply to any project they choose and need not be a major or minor in the department in which the project is listed.  As there are a number of interdisciplinary projects available for the 2018 SMART Program, we encourage interested undergraduates to read through all projects listed at

If you are interested in applying to the 2018 SMART Program, please visit our website at The undergraduate application, a description of the projects for the 2018 SMART Program, eligibility criteria for undergraduates, and other information about the program can be accessed at
