UC Davis Summer Abroad 2017 is offering several courses that may be of particular interest to ‘Agricultural, Environmental and Resource Science’ students. UCB students are eligible for all programs and UCB summer financial aid applies. The  Power Shift Network   is partnering with the   California Student Sustainability Coalition   for Power Shift West Convergence 2016! Join young climate and social justice leaders from all over the West for a weekend of workshops, trainings, speakers, and movement-building. The theme of the convergence:  “Reclaim Today, Transform Tomorrow.”  We know that the face of climate and environmental activism too often doesn’t represent those who are most impacted by pollution, the impact of climate change, and the fossil fuel industry’s greed. In Berkeley, we’ll dig into how we can reclaim and transform our movement to put the stories and struggles of the most impacted communities front and center—starting today. The Alliance to Save Energy's PowerSave Campus Program seeks a student with an interest in energy efficiency for the position of PowerSave Campus Project Coordinator beginning September 2013. The Project Coordinator will join a team of fellow student interns to design and implement energy efficiency projects based on low-cost technologies and no-cost behavior changes, as well as the education of campus students, staff, and faculty members on energy conservation. Students will determine their specific objectives and workload through ongoing consultation with teammates, team managers, and Alliance to Save Energy's campus lead. The weekly workload for the Project Coordinator position will vary between 5 and 15 hours per week and is compensate at $11 per hour. UC Forestry Summer Field Program at Baker Forest June 23, 2013 – August 16, 2013 Meadow Valley, CA In the beautiful mountains of the Plumas National Forest, the UC Summer Forestry Field Camp provides students a unique opportunity to study the biota, soils, and geology of the Feather River Country. Tall ponderosa and sugar pines tower over the area, with white fir, Douglas- fir, incense-cedar, and black oak intermixed in the dense forests. Several streams pass through the camp. Housing is provided in cabins and bunkhouses, with a central kitchen and dining facility with a large campfire area in front. Easy hiking to waterfalls, lakes, and mountain meadows is enjoyed by residents. The overall goal of the Summer Field Program is to provide an introduction to the scientific and professional dimensions of forest and wildland resource management. 2013 Green Fund Grants and Sustainability Award Nominations now open! CACS Green Fund Grants Apply for a grant for up to $2,000 for a campus sustainability project. The annual Chancellor's Green Fund Grant program enables members of the UC Berkeley campus community to undertake projects that will create a greener, more environmentallysustainable campus -- while saving resources and money in the process. CACS is currently focused on improving sustainability in the areas of green labs, waste reduction and diversion, water conservation, and greening purchasing practices. Grants that address these focus areas are of particular interest to CACS.
