Herbicide-Free Cal is seeking CED and Landscape Architecture students to help create a cultural shift towards organic management schemes on campus instead of agrochemicals. Our campaign originally started in 2017 seeking to cease the use of glyphosate on campus and has now grown to assist groundskeepers and landscaping faculty to create a healthier, more sustainable campus management scheme. Beginning with Faculty Glade and Memorial Glade at Berkeley, this campaign has now spread across the UC campuses and UC President Janet Napolitano enacted a 1-year, temporary suspension of glyphosate use on campus. We have been working closely with Theron Klos, our campus’ Operations and Grounds Services Manager, throughout all these efforts. He is hoping to get Landscape Architecture students involved to help design new landscaping spaces on campus as we discontinue the use of chemicals. The Fellowship is available to students who will be entering their final year of study in September 2014 The Fellowship includes: $4,000 Fellowship travel expenses during the 3-week travel period. Salary for the 8-week Fellowship/Internship within the office. $2,000 for housing assistance during the 8-week stay in San Francisco or New York. INSTITUTE OF INTERNATIONAL STUDIES UNDERGRADUATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP Description: IIS is seeking to award a series of merit scholarships of up to $2000 each to support undergraduate research in any area of international studies.Research may be conducted independently, in congruence with an honors thesis, or while studying abroad. The scholarship recipients will be called IIS Junior Scholars. After completing their research projects, Junior Scholars are required to submit a four-page research summary and attend the IIS Junior Scholars Conference held in May 2014. Junior Scholars will present their work in poster format at the conference. Junior Scholars with the strongest research project will each receive an additional $1000 prize. There will also be an opportunity to compete for the Best Poster Award, an additional $250 prize. The GPP Minor introduces students to the theoretical frameworks, methods, and practical skills necessary to engage with global poverty and inequality in imaginative and effective ways. The "Practice Experience" is a central component of the Minor in which students partner for a minimum of five weeks, with non-governmental or community organizations, government agencies, or other poverty or development programs, on various dimensions of poverty action – from community health and food security to economic justice and grass-roots political power. This real world experience, which can take place domestically or internationally, allows students to connect theories and practices of poverty action. Enter the inaugural Living Cities: Residential Towers for the 21st Century Design Competition co-produced by Metropolis magazine, the Steel Institute of New York, and the Ornamental Metal Institute of New York. Come to ED 98/198 - Set Design and Installation Art - decal open to undergraduate and graduate students Tuesdays 3-5pm Wurster Hall 172 In this decal you will be collaborating with classmates to design and construct a set for a student fashion runway. At the end of the semester we will construct our design for the FAST Fall ’13 Fashion Show. In its second year running, Cal Set Design will provide FAST (Fast Student Trends) with an installation as the backdrop for their event. We work alongside this organization and student designers to provide circulation diagrams, stage requirements and pull together their fashion theme through visual element.  The decal meets once a week and covers the topics of installation techniques, material research, and collaborative design.  Email: calsetdesign@gmail.com
