The Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the LGBTQ Communities at Cal (CAC-LGBTQ) presents the QT Community Town Hall. This event will serve as an opportunity for faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students, and community members to discuss matters pertinent to the Queer/Trans community on campus and beyond. The Future of Transportation Panel, co-hosted by BEACN, BERCU, and Cal ITE, is taking place on  Thursday, Nov. 21 . We would like to get the words out in the CED blog post so folks can hear from industry speakers and academics, including our very own Dr. Susan Shaheen! Here're the event details: Come and join BEACN, BERCU, and Cal ITE in a conversation about the path to cleaner transportation. At a time where we constantly hear the promising effects of clean technology many years from now, our speakers will share their experiences with the present difficulties in transitioning to that future. This panel will explore the interactions between private companies and public transit organizations, as well as the role that governments and researchers play in accelerating this transition. Carlo Rotella will speak about his new book, which one reviewer called "an urban history with the soul of a memoir."  The World is Always Coming to An End: Pulling Together and Apart in a Chicago Neighborhood  is a hauntingly personal account of this scholar-journalist's return to Chicago's South Shore neighborhood where he grew up (and also where Michelle Obama grew up).
