The  Transfer   Student   Center  is now  hiring   Peer Advocate Leads  for the  2020 Spring Semester.  Peer Advocate Lead  plays a critical role in ensuring that the project team is meeting project goals and objectives. The lead helps to organize and arrange the team’s areas of responsibility, delegates as necessary, and maintain regular communication with the  Transfer  Student  Center ’s Leadership Team. The Lead works in a team setting and helps to provide the connection and collaboration between and amongst team members. This Spring 2017, The Transfer Student Center is offering four sections of  Education 198: An Introduction to the Research University for Transfers .  This 1 unit, pass/not pass transition course is a great introduction to student life, academic expectations, enrichment opportunities, and campus resources. The course addresses the unique experience and perspective transfer students bring as they prepare to launch into upper division coursework. One key goal of this course is to provide transfer students with the support and information they will need to thrive at Cal. Hello Transfer Students! My name is Adena, and I am the Program Coordinator for the Berkeley City College Service Community (BCCSC). This program was created through the Cal Corps Public Service Center at UC Berkeley, and its goals are to help community college students transfer to four year institutions and get involved in public service. We provide transfer and scholarship workshops, as well as one Shadow Day a semester. Would you be interested in being a Group Leader for our Shadow Day? Shadow Day is an opportunity for prospective transfer students to visit the Cal campus, connect with transfer resources, and connect with the transfer community. For this event, we need Group Leader to lead a personalized tour, answer questions, and share their personal experiences with the transfer process. CED students - please consider being a mentor to a prospective CED transfer student!! -Susan Dear Campus Colleagues, I am very pleased to inform you that the Starting Point Mentorship Program (SPMP) is currently in progress at the Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center. For the Spring 2013 semester, one of SPMP's primary goals is to recruit and encourage potential mentors from as many of Berkeley’s wide array of colleges and departments as possible. Each semester, the program serves roughly 200 prospective transfer students, or mentees. In a typical semester, at least half of these will pursue admission either to the College of Engineering or School of Business. Many will apply to the Colleges of Chemistry, Natural Resources, Letters & Sciences, or Environmental Design. Though we can never predict the mentees’ academic interests, we can be certain that they will cover a broad and diverse intellectual spectrum. Whether you're interested in FINDING  a mentor or BEING a mentor or simply learning more about the program, this meeting is for you! We will be meeting November 18th from 3-4 pm in 270 Wurster .
