For our 2020  Urban Transformation  course, offered by Red Tree Study in partnership with Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) in Medellin, we are delighted to announce that we have a full scholarship, to the value of $2,550 USD, as well as several smaller travel bursaries. This scholarship funds participation in our two-week academic summer course taught by the RIBA-Accredited Architecture School at Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia. Medellin, the birthplace of ‘social urbanism’, was once one of the world’s most dangerous cities, yet is now famous for its pioneering innovative urban projects that have transformed the lives of many of its citizens. It provides a perfect case study for students. The course combines lectures and seminars on campus with site visits and workshops that deliver practical knowledge of the city. You are invited to attend a Global Poverty & Practice Minor Information Session! The GPP Minor introduces students to the theoretical frameworks, methods, and practical skills necessary to engage with global poverty and inequality in imaginative and effective ways.  The "Practice Experience" is a central component of the Minor in which students partner with domestic or international non-governmental or community organizations, government agencies, or other poverty or development programs, on various dimensions of poverty action – from community health and food security to economic justice and grass-roots political power.  The combination of the the coursework for the Minor and this real world experience allows students to connect theories and practices of poverty action. Funding is available to support students’ practice experiences. The  Power Shift Network   is partnering with the   California Student Sustainability Coalition   for Power Shift West Convergence 2016! Join young climate and social justice leaders from all over the West for a weekend of workshops, trainings, speakers, and movement-building. The theme of the convergence:  “Reclaim Today, Transform Tomorrow.”  We know that the face of climate and environmental activism too often doesn’t represent those who are most impacted by pollution, the impact of climate change, and the fossil fuel industry’s greed.
