Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) w/ human subjects

The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship/L&S program (SURF/L&S) allows UC Berkeley undergraduates in the College of Letters and Science to spend the summer doing concentrated research in preparation for a senior thesis.

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship/Rose Hills (SURF RH) w/ human subjects
Deadline: 2/25/2014
The SURF/Rose Hills fellowship ($6K) allows UC Berkeley students in certain math, science, and engineering majors (L&S, CNR, COE, C. Chem) to immerse themselves in full-time summer research; independent research for juniors or graduating seniors ; or faculty-initiated research for sophomores or juniors.

Practical political experiences integrate students into national political campaigns and provide them insight into national policy making. The Program’s emphasis upon a group experience facilitates relationships among students that transcend the Washington semester.

Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship

The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) program at UC Berkeley targets students with exceptional academic promise in the humanities or social sciences and potential for academic careers that will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in the academy. The program supports Fellows by providing mentorship and the environment and resources to strive for the highest academic goals.

SMART (Student Mentoring and Research Teams)

the SMART Program enables doctoral students to provide mentored research opportunities for undergraduate students at UC Berkeley. This program is designed to broaden the professional development of doctoral students and to foster research skills and paths to advanced studies for undergraduates.
STEER Program (Short Term Educational Experiences for Research) - Environmental Health

Spend nine weeks during summer 2014 (Monday, June 16th through Friday, August 15th) working with a University of California researcher in a paid summer internship program. Gain valuable experience and join other students who are interested in careers in science working on research projects that could be important for future academic and career opportunities.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) - Bio summer apprenticeship

The program's objective is to provide undergraduates with the opportunity to begin work in a research laboratory in the summer with the possibility of continuing through the following academic year.

Biology Fellows Program

The Biology Fellows Program (BFP) is a semester-long program open to all UC Berkeley students that provides financial support for students doing research, as well as seminars and professional development workshops on biological research-related topics.

Pre-IMSD Research

The UC Berkeley Pre-IMSD Undergraduate Research Program is designed for those undergraduates who want to explore their interest in pursuing a research career. The overall goal of the NIH-sponsored IMSD Program is to increase the number of students from groups traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences who go on to earn Ph.D.s in those fields.

TRUST Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

The TRUST REU is a nine-week residential research program. The goal of this program is to increase the level of diversity among students entering graduate programs by providing research opportunities under the supervision of a faculty member and/or graduate student mentor.

Stronach Baccalaureate Prize (for after graduation)

The Judith Lee Stronach Baccalaureate Prize supports intellectual and creative pursuits that heighten awareness of issues of social consciousness and the public good.
