Minorities in Health Conference 4/6 - Information and Invitation
Each year the Black Students in Health Association (BSHA), the Chicanos/Latinos in Health Education (CHE), and the Pilipino Association for Health Careers (PAHC) of UC Berkeley unite forces to host the Minorities in Health (MIH) Conference.
The goal of the conference is to educate students on health disparities that affect our communities and find ways to decrease these disparities by encouraging and inspiring both high school and undergraduate students to strive toward higher education and ultimately careers in health.
On Saturday April 6, students will have the opportunity to network and interact with a variety of health professionals, medical students and graduate students from schools such as Stanford, UCSF, UC Berkeley and throughout the Bay Area. Students will attend beneficial workshops, participate in public health discussions, and better equip themselves for their journey in these competitive career tracks.
This year the conference will award one student with an MIH Scholarship in the amount of $500. This Scholarship opportunity is open to ANYONE attending the conference. We understand that the journey into a health career isn’t always easy and that is why MIH is here to serve as that inspiration and support you need to encourage you along the way. Additionally, students will have special access to free or greatly reduced MCAT and GRE Prep class by attending the conference and will have access to the UC Berkeley Health Careers Opportunity Program Manager for career and graduate education advising sessions after the conference.
MIH will be at UC Berkeley-2040 Valley Life Science Building (Networking Lunch in Dwinelle Plaza) on April 6th from 8:30am to 4pm.
