This is a paid internship designed to provide direct experience with entry-level editorial skills. The intern will be trained directly by the Managing Editor of the Berkeley Academic Guide and receive regular feedback. Students who show focus and commitment will have the potential to receive future letters of recommendation from the Managing Editor. The internship is ideal for Junior and Senior students who are preparing to work in the fields of Publishing and/or Communications. To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume to 

This internship includes (but is not limited to) the tasks below. Individuals can choose to spend more time building skills of particular interest.
• Copyediting text using the Chicago Manual of Style. (Onsite training will be provided) 
• Editing and formatting online text, in both the Berkeley Academic Guide (CourseLeaf) and the Office of the Registrar website (Drupal) 
• Working in Photoshop and InDesign to prepare images and pdfs for publication
• Using Twitter Analytics to gather data on the @BerkeleyGuide Twitter account 
• Using Google Analytics to gather data on the Berkeley Academic Guide, Class Schedule, and Office of the Registrar website 
• Tracking and updating Guide data using Google Sheets. 
• Additional projects as they arise, or are suggested by the intern

• A passion for editing: Must enjoy correcting errors and improving content. The intern should get some sense of satisfaction from making a website better.
• Attention to detail: Must be able to read carefully to find and correct small errors.
• Professionalism: The intern will work in a quiet office space among career employees. The intern must be respectful of others and address co-workers professionally.
• Imagination: Interns are encouraged to look for ways to improve systems, promote Guide features, and imagine projects that could benefit the Berkeley Academic Guide.
• Availability: The intern must be able to commit to working to at least 10 hours per week, with some flexibility around midterms and finals. Shifts can be scheduled any days except Wednesdays.
