Last year, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria tore a path of devastation through Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. Habitat for Humanity International has been on the ground since disaster struck, and in their recent six-month progress report, you can see a snapshot of the incredible work Habitat has done to provide relief to affected families, while laying the groundwork for long-term recovery and rebuilding.
Eligio and Liliana – along with their two young sons – recently welcomed the community to their future neighborhood for a special site tour at Central Commons in Fremont. While there are no doors to be opened yet, the family opened their hearts, thanking the community for being a part of their dream of homeownership.
The Beloved Community was the centerpiece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision for the future: a society based on love, justice, and opportunity. At Habitat East Bay/Silicon Valley, we are committed to working toward Dr. King’s vision, and we’re grateful to have the support of our corporate community in that effort. On the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act’s passage, we celebrated with a special build day, and our corporate partners rallied together to bring us ever closer to that Beloved Community.
